Reiki 

Reiki is an incredibly relaxing, gentle and calming experience. It’s a Japanese healing technique, which helps to relieve any stress or pain whether it’s physical, emotional or mental. Reiki works on the premise  that we have a life force energy within us, which can over time become low or out of balance due to illness, trauma, injury or emotional upsets. Reiki healing helps to raise this energy encouraging self healing. 

 

During a reiki treatment you will lie fully clothed on a bed (or a gravity free reflexology chair). I will place my hands on certain areas of your body, and at times I will hold my hands over certain areas. You may feel a heat coming from my hands, you may feel waves and you may also see colours when you close your eyes. Most clients fall into a very relaxed state, and some people even fall asleep.

Receivers of reiki report feeling extremely peaceful, calm, happy and a sense of overall wellbeing during the treatment. Reiki combines beautifully with reflexology. It’s also a beautiful way to end a facial massage.   

 

Reiki is incredibly simple yet effective. It may help with the following:

 â—¦ Sleep problems

 â—¦ Pain

Aftercare Advice

It is common to feel very relaxed after a reflexology or reiki treatment, although alternatively you may feel energised – everyone responds differently to a treatment. It’s important to make sure you drink lots of water and stay hydrated for the rest of the day as this will help to flush out any toxins. If at all possible try and rest for the rest of that day, and avoid heavy meals, caffeine and alcohol as this will allow maximum benefits from the reflexology.

Everyone responds differently to a treatment, and like other holistic therapies the body can sometimes experience a healing response, and this is a healthy sign that your body has responded to the treatment. Some common symptoms could be:

  • A very deep nights sleep or disturbed sleep

  • Increased thirst and visits to the toilet

  • Headache

  • Irritable

  • Heightened emotions

  • Feeling sleepy or deeply relaxed

  • A slight rash as toxins have been released

These are all normal reactions. Any negative responses will pass within 24 to 48 hours and you should then feel a sense of well being as your body is brought back into balance.
