THE STORY BEHIND ALAMI

​I’m Anna, the founder of Alami Holistics, a holistic therapist based in Kingsteignton, Devon.

Alami means ‘natural’ in Indonesian, and the name holds a very special meaning for me. My time living in Bali had a lasting influence on my approach to wellbeing, from my love of reflexology and natural therapies to my belief that caring for ourselves should be a natural part of everyday life.

For me, wellbeing has always been about coming back to the natural world, slowing down and creating space to truly look after yourself. My journey into holistic therapy has evolved over many years, bringing together my love of natural skincare, touch, relaxation and the connection between how we feel on the inside and how we care for ourselves on the outside.

My journey began in 2016 when I started creating my own natural skincare formulations. I wanted to understand exactly what I was putting on my skin and explore a more natural alternative to the mass-produced products available. This led me to train as an organic skincare formulator and eventually create my own natural skincare brand, Alami Skincare.

It was through this that I rediscovered something very special to me: reflexology.

When I lived in Bali, I would have reflexology treatments regularly and experienced first-hand how much they could support both my physical and emotional wellbeing. In Indonesia, reflexology is woven into everyday life and is often seen as a natural part of looking after yourself, rather than an occasional luxury. I loved this philosophy and, in 2019, I decided to follow my instinct and begin my own journey into holistic therapies.
